Kiss

Symphony

Editor's Review:

This double disc DVD of Kiss performing live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra should please many soldiers in the Kiss Army. Comprised of three acts, the show begins with Kiss playing a short set by themselves. Act two shows Kiss and a small symphony ensemble interpreting the band’s slower songs acoustically. For the third act, the hottest band in the world is joined by the 62-piece Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, all in full Kiss make-up. But too often, the orchestra is merely playing along, not altering the sound of the songs to any great extent. Perhaps if Kiss had practiced with the orchestra more (a documentary shows them rehearsing for only two days) they could have rearranged some of the songs to feature the symphony in a more prominent role. While fun to watch, Symphony was not enough to get me to enlist.
