David Bowie

Reality

Editor's Review:

After three decades of setting the bar for popular electronic music, this 56-year-old theatrical rocker is still producing solid tunes. David Bowie’s newest album, Reality, is no Ziggy Stardust. It isn’t anything like his ‘80s hit, Scary Monsters either. This new album stands on its own two feet, creating a somber and sophisticated sound that reflects Bowie’s epic ability to stay on top. Reality, backed by an experienced and seasoned band, gives the listener a fresh look at Bowie’s musical talents. This album can get harsh at times — like on the title track — but can also be very haunting and beautiful, like in the closing track “Bring Me the Disco King.” The album also features some very Bowie retro-glam-rock moments mixed with the wild and theatrical lyrics we expect to hear from this old school rocker.
