Lyrics Born

Later That Day

Editor's Review:

Lyrics Born’s Later That Day is already being hailed as one of this year’s dopest indie rap releases. While there will no doubt be some debate as to that title, there is no debating that this Bay Area native has released one of the funkiest and most soulful indie rap records of the year. From the grand perfectionism of the production to the unique delivery of LB’s vocals — he can rap straight or use his voice melodically, not quite singing but rhyming in a manner that utilizes his voice more as an instrument — it’s plainly evident that there was a lot of time and polish put on this record. Style-wise, Lyrics Born is smooth and suave, and tends to be either loved or hated by listeners. To put it in terms that people can understand, if you’re down with Talib Kweli, Blackalicious, Common, etc., then Lyrics Born is probably for you.
