Underworld: Music from the Motion Picture

Editor's Review:

Underworld is a modern day, bullet-ridden techno-gothic showdown between werewolves and vampires, and it’s soundtrack is similarly grandiose. Tones range from explosively loud (Dillinger Escape Plan) to soothingly quiet (Lisa Germano), but the overall feel is fittingly gloomy — if you listen close enough, you can hear the raindrops peppering the rooftops. Though this can seem pretty cliché, the Underworld soundtrack’s saving grace is its level of talent. Produced by Nine Inch Nails’ Danny Lohner, this CD boasts quite a collection of moody rockers. David Bowie, Page Hamilton and A Perfect Circle provide solid contributions, and Maynard James Keenan lends his talents to two more tracks. Other stand-outs include darkly beautiful songs by Sarah Bettens and Concrete Blonde’s Johnette Napolitano.
