the Rapture

Echoes

Editor's Review:

Certainly being one of the most well-rounded hipster-cred bands of the year, New York rockers The Rapture synthesize their expensive jeans and haircuts into a collection of music you could match to any pair of shoes. Echoes features dance-y tracks like “Olio” and “I Need Your Love” that are rich with leg-shaking escapades; but in the meantime, “Open Up Your Heart” downplays the former songs with minimalist drumming paired with intermittent piano. Vocalist Luke Jenner powerfully ejects his voice from a deep dark corner of his soul straight into your eardrums, providing the attitude and emotional element necessary for a Rapture-like listening experience. It’s possible you’ll have to skip over a few tracks, depending on your mood, but if you’re a true rocker, roller and out-of-controller, chances are you’ll start to think The Rapture is the new black.
