Ozomatli

Coming Up

Editor's Review:

I’m not sure if it is because of the cover art, but this Coming Up EP by Ozomatli makes me want to go lie down in the park on my back and stare at the clouds and think about how good life is. This EP reminds me of the Ozomatli as I remember them from their incredible debut album, full of more Spanish-style music with hints of hip-hop. It is just a feel-good EP, that makes me forget about the bullshit in my life, which is exactly what good music should do. The shocker of the EP is the English-sung, “Let Me Dream,” which at first sounds like a track you might hear on MTV, but after a few spins is the obvious standout track. Sometimes, Ozomatli’s overlaying tracks of various instruments can grow bothersome, but in “Let Me Dream,” each instrument is utilized in its own part, however small it may be, which contributes to an overall superb sounding EP.
