Pennywise

From the Ashes

Editor's Review:

From the Ashes is basically Pennywise just doing what they do best: playing transitional punk rock with moderate melodies, crunchy bar chords and chronic, but subtle, vocal harmonies. Standard for the band, this release ranges from a self-reflective ambience (“Now I Know” and “Look Who You Are”) to critical governmental analysis. This time, the main socio-political focus is that of post-9/11 America and our increasingly controversial actions abroad (“God Save the USA,” and “This is Only a Test”). Though the lyrics often lack poetry, their persuasive approach offers a message that is both strong and inspirational to anyone who has been paying attention. Included is a DVD, with behind the scenes, home recordings, interviews with the band, live performances and the making of the album.
