Korn

Take A Look In The Mirror

Editor's Review:

In the vestibule of my puberty, nothing could touch Metallica’s …And Justice For All. The album struck all the right chords in my disaffected, misunderstood and newly-anointed teen-hood, the music’s unfocused rage reflecting that found within myself and my peers. As long as there is confused teen angst, bands who are perceptibly heavy and deceptively singable will continue to be relevant, assuming their melodically-tinged cutting edge remains viciously sharp. With their sixth release, Korn proves that long-term success hasn’t tempered their ability to balance crunchy and catchy on the edge of a straight-razor. Clanking bass, rasp-attack vocals, down-tuned guitars and a healthy fuck-you attitude still make up the bulk of their arsenal, but while …Mirror emphasizes the vibrato-heavy singing of Jonathan Davis, there’s still plenty of gut-punch rök to underscore a good screaming match with mom and dad.
