Leona Naess

Leona Naess

Editor's Review:

If I were a sorority girl or a Lilith Fair chick, I would probably appreciate this album a lot more. On her self-titled album, Leona Naess combines her strong, sweet voice with simple, pretty acoustic guitar and piano progressions and sometimes quiet, sometimes upbeat drumming. Much like a less experienced Jewel or Sarah McLachlan, her lyrics are poetic and emotional, sometimes smart and witty, and usually about heartbreak and relationships. Some tracks have a slight folk twang (“Don’t Use My Broken Heart to Pick Up Other Girls”), but overall Leona Naess fits right into the genre. Pick it up if you are having a social this week or if you’re taking a road trip to see the Dixie Chicks.
