Travis

12 Memories

Editor's Review:

As many a one-hit wonder band will tell you, ceaselessly slow and mellow music has to have something else in it to hold people’s attentions. Most lame folk-alternative bands can’t pull it off, falling into obscurity, playing county fairs and opening for bands from Canada, but Travis probably won’t go that route. Unlike many bands with similar lineups, Travis is very good at coming up with good guitar and vocal melodies. A testament to that statement is the fact that I actually listened to almost the whole album from beginning to end without losing interest, something that almost never happens. The lost, unhealthy-sounding riff in “Happy to Hang Around” alone could drive any giggling cheerleader into a silent melancholy. Good for sitting alone in your room, pondering your meaningless life and staring at inanimate objects.
