Death Via Satellite

Editor's Review:

The first thing that came to mind when I listened to The Start was Gwen Stefani ditching No Doubt and fronting a garage-style riff rock band. Though lead singer Aimee Echo does not seem quite as innocent as sweet little Gwen, the SoCal pop-girl singing style is there, like, for fucking sure. The Start’s appearance is pretty well-timed, too, since the garage sound is going strong these days, while No Doubt has slid toward the club scene, leaving a vacancy in the rock realm for any sassy SoCal pop-girl lead singer. And adding to the band’s appeal is the curious streak of ’80s electronic pop, just because the ’80s were totally rad, man. Give this band some time to develop just a little more lyrical creativity and you might see them on, like, TRL, ’kay?
