Red Tape

Radioactivist

Editor's Review:

Red Tape’s Radioactivist is a solid debut for Roadrunner Records, barreling ahead at full-throttle from the start. And though Red Tape never lays off the accelerator, they are able to spice up their sonic assault enough to keep Radioactivist from becoming redundant. The band’s frequent use of distorted harmonics, especially on “Divebomb,” add a frantic energy to the album that brings blaring guitar chaos to a fevered pitch. Frontman Jeff Jaworski’s aggressive songwriting and vocal delivery fuel this album’s contentious attitude and intimidating stance, but buried deep in the layers of loud guitars and hard-hitting rhythms are crafty hooks that make tracks like “Stalingrad” perfect rebellious shout-alongs, whether or not you’re caught up in the cause. Radioactivist is a refreshing blast of hardcore punk — euphoric, fast and free.
