Socially Pink

Crappy Music for a Shitty World

Editor's Review:

Socially Pink’s vibe brings me back to the good ol’ days at Gilman Street in the better industrial section of Berkeley — memories of blaring music being force-fed through the walls as the kids sat in the back street drinking cheap vodka on Friday and Saturday nights. Socially Pink is a four-piece punk band out of Chico and is said to be pretty high and mighty. SP’s new LP, Crappy Music for a Shitty World, has a quick hardcore pace with chop riffs like those of F.Y.P. (Toys That Kill), while Jason Schwenkler rips the mic in two with crisp clean vocals similar to those of Minor Threat. This high energy CD handles all sorts of issues, from politics to suicide, to lushin’ it out in “Drunk Not Retarded.”
