Madcap

Under Suspicion

Editor's Review:

I have to admit, I haven’t heard a new punk band or album that has caught my attention in quite a while now. So the fact that this album blew away my expectations was very refreshing. The thing that makes Madcap unique is that they seem to pay respect to pretty much every punk movement of the late ‘60s and ‘70s while still offering plenty to the modern scene. They combine the crunching guitars and energy of the Epitaph and Fat Wreck Chords crews with throwback melodies and dance-worthy hooks that bring to mind classic punk pioneers like Elvis Costello. The album gets off to a blistering start with the aptly named “Keep Dancin’” and never slows down. Each track is filled with enough handclaps, sing-along choruses and three-chord perfection to make the mosh-pits fun again.
