the Casualties

On the Front Line

Editor's Review:

On the Front Line will certainly be a breath of fresh air for anyone disillusioned with punk’s latest turn towards pop. Since the early ‘90s, The Causalities have continued to revisit the hardcore side of punk - a scene that they saw slipping away after the ‘80s. The album is packed with all the crusty assault that one would expect from this angry quartet. In punk rock fashion, it keeps the music simple, aiming not so much towards the technical as the meaningful, yet not shying away from a little guitar soloing and fancy bass lines. There is a certain point when it might perhaps be appropriate for the lead singer to start…well…singing. But the lack of melody only cements this band’s position into the hardcore punk genus.
