Murs

3:16 the 9th Edition

Editor's Review:

West Coast underground rapper MC Murs (of Living Legends), teams up with East Coast, Little Brother producer 9th Wonder on 3:16 the 9th Edition, an outstanding 10-song effort that brings justice to hip-hop in a hip-pop period reminiscent of the boring bling-bling era. Murs proves that he is a talented, hungry MC and a force to be reckoned with. While hefty portions of his lyrics ponder everyone’s favorite topic: females (“Freak These Tales” and “The Pain”); Murs is still able to tackle serious issues (“And This Is For…”) as well as spit some straight up braggadocios raps (“The Animal”). Production-wise, 9th Wonder blows minds. After this release, his name should be up there with the new breed of super-producers the likes of Kanye West. Two under-appreciated artists created this album, yet after 3:16 The 9th Edition, Murs and 9th Wonder should never have to worry about whether or not they’ll be appreciated again.
