Dead Prez

RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta

Editor's Review:

Revolutionary But Gangsta. Red Black Green. Real Big Guns. That’s what Dead Prez is all about, and they aren’t playing. Like Public Enemy, they make struggle music for black consciousness and speak with a militant tone. With RBG they adapt the street sound by taking on the thug mentality, but replace ignorance with a message of revolution. They balance out the bullshit, and now with major label push, hopefully people will catch on and wake up. As a white listener, I understand they probably aren’t addressing me, but I feel how they take advantage of their opportunity to speak to the masses. Fuck promoting and entertaining heathens during these trying times, change can come but it takes people like Dead Prez to spread the gospel.
