Over 15 years in the making, the Pixies DVD’s arrival coincides with a recently released greatest hits album; both are in promotion of the band’s current reunion tour with 10 shows in the States and numerous stops in Europe and Canada. Included on the disc are a live concert at The Town and Country Club in London in 1988, seven low-gloss videos (Black Francis with hair!), a home video documentary of the band while it toured Europe in 1989 and many interviews with important people in the world of rock (including all four Pixies themselves), discussing the curiously influential band that overtook the ‘80s and changed rock forever. Still not convinced? Bowie compared them to The Velvet Underground and said The Pixies substantially changed the way in which hard rock music was delivered…and what Bowie says, goes.
