Cali Agents, Rasco and Planet Asia

Head of the State

Editor's Review:

Hip-hop is the new jazz, and white people have fucked shit up; but that’s not an excuse for not making a hot album. It’s like I want to support this album because they represent my neck of the woods, but every aspect of the album is mediocre. Rasco and Planet Asia have proven themselves as MCs with their ability to rip shows and make dope records, but for some reason the feeling is lost when they collaborate on Cali Agents projects. The strength is in the lyrics, but even there they lack an innovative voice, or style. With some horrendous hooks, and less than slumpin’ beats, I can’t imagine the streets running to their side; they’re on the ground between Martin Luther King Blvd. and Internet message board fodder.
