Goldfinger

Live at the House of Blues

Editor's Review:

For starters, Goldfinger’s latest DVD, Live at the House of Blues, contains an exceptional sound quality, which conveys the full girth of their teeny-bop movie soundtrack style ska-punk (or skunk if you would prefer). This disc portrays a band that has embraced its primarily 15-year-old fanbase and in turn gives them a show centered around sophomoric fun and inelegant comedy. In between fits of their almost neck-breaking bounciness, the drummer steps out into the spotlight and announces the next song “about a man that [he] would have sex with, given the chance”; that man being Wayne Gretzsky (“I think he’s sexy”). And let’s not forget the tribute to Ted Nugent, who “…thinks he’ll get the girls by killing little squirrels.” Of course, included is a commendable performance of their hit “Here in Your Bedroom,” as well as their famed cover of Nena’s “99 Red Balloons.”
