the Icarus Line

Penance Soiree

Editor's Review:

It strikes me that this band is more interested in projecting an image of rock rebellion than making music. They certainly have all the components in place: heavy guitar riffs stripped from the universal every-album, whaling vocals that bring to mind a man barely sober enough to hold a mic and drumbeats capable of clearing out the most impassioned fire dancers. A visit to the band’s Web site offers up a bio about “sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll,” desperate to paint a picture of stage legends churning out chaos. The group has a history; they’ve paid their dues, but it doesn’t mean they produce music people want to hear. Hopefully, they’re having fun and making enough cash to feed their rock star façade.
