The L Word

Editor's Review:

The L Word soundtrack promotes two stereotypes: the first that all lesbians are attractive nymphomaniacs; the second that girls like wussy music. The soundtrack to this Showtime series is composed of mostly female groups, and is most definitely Lilith Fair worthy. The strongest tracks are “Alright” by Kinnie Starr, “Genius” by the Murmurs and Shelley Campbell’s “Drivin’ You.” Most of the artists are contemporary, but there are a couple of older songs as well. It’s a well-rounded album and seems to reflect the show well. Give it a listen if you don’t mind feeling wussy; although I imagine that guys won’t like this soundtrack nearly as much as they like attractive lesbians.
