Ras Kass, Pharoahe Monch

“Can You See What I See” b/w “Hands High”

Editor's Review:

It seems the new way to promote a new artist is to grab some lyrical heavyweights, in this case Pharoahe Monch and Ras Kass, let them burn up the A-side, and reserve the B-side for the rookies. “Can You See What I See” features DJ Hi-Tek flipping some sitar riffs while Pharoahe and Ras trade off eight bar verses. Both MCs come out firing, and with a catchy hook make up for a less than stellar beat. The B-side holds four grooves with Dave Ghetto on “Hands High,” and Basic Vocab on “Represent,” with instrumentals for both. “Hands High” is a mellow track that will catalyze some head nodding, but it’s “Represent” that takes the cake. From the flows to the beat Basic Vocab keeps it dirty, the way I like it.
