The Tipping Point

Editor's Review:

It might blow up, but it won’t go pop, hence the name of the group: The Roots. Just when it appears that they might be steering toward TRL fame with their electric new single, “Don’t Say Nuthin,” The Tipping Point is still rooted in that Illadelph, organic music that we always want more of. Like all great bands, The Roots consistently challenge themselves as musicans, and reinvent their sound with each album. Mainstream success has not altered Black Thought’s approach to the mic either, with an even balance of conscious songs like “Guns Are Drawn,” party joints such as “I Don’t Care” and straight hip-hop spit with Skillz and Trucks North on “The Mic.” Eleven songs and no fillers — all unique and all dope.
