Till Death

Till Death

Editor's Review:

While freely exhibiting frenzied axe solos, fiery lyrical delivery and inspired Iron Maiden hooks, Redding’s Till Death seem poised to conquer the fledgling NorCal hardcore scene. Siblings Kurt and Brett Baer trade off blistering riffage while vocalist Matt Briner howls and barks virtually incoherent words over a medley of metal’s fury and hardcore’s positivity. “Strikes and Gutters” explores the debilitating practice of performing in and around Redding, addressing the now infamous police interferences among shows in the mid-1990s with “APD in riot gear / same old shit year after year.” While roughly 80 percent of hardcore bands contain the message, sans talent, Till Death decries the trend with cohesive double-bass ferocity and similarly passionate, albeit decidedly dark lyrical introspection.
