Living Legends
Creative Differences
Editor's Review:
As their back catalog proves, you can expect nothing but pure entertainment
from these hip-hop henchmen. Both as solo artists and producers, and together
in a crew, The Living Legends (Eligh, Bicasso, Aesop, Arata, Murs, Sunspot Jonz,
The Grouch, Scarub and luckyiam.PSC) are relentless when it comes to new music,
providing some of the finest underground hip-hop that you can get your greedy
little hands on. Their new masterpiece Creative Differences is no exception
to the rule. They deliver with quick lyricism, anywhere from deep emotional
thoughts to comical concepts shown in "Fill My Drink Up" or The Grouch
letting loose talking about how he's from Burrito Truck Village in "No
Strings." I don't know exactly where that is, but it sounds delicious.
"Creative Differences" gives a shout out to Aesop Rock and pretty
much lays down the friendship level that you could expect from the bunch. Groups
like this have earned the honest respect from the underground scene with their
noble lyrics and modest styles; no songs about guns, 40s and wack-ass bitches,
just the hard top shelf stuff that you can never afford at the bar, brought
to you at a reasonable price for the reasonable type of thinker. If you are
a fan of The Grouch or any of the rest of the crew there is no reason why this
wouldn't fit in perfectly with the rest of your collection.
