Rise Against

Siren Song of the Counter Culture

Editor's Review:

Siren Song of the Counter Culture seems to be a true learning experience, considering that Rise Against recently switched from Fat Wreck Chords to Geffen and played a little Chinese fire drill with rhythm guitarists. A minor setback, yet Rise landed on their feet with buttery power riffs and complementary vocals from Tim McLlrath. This four-man hardcore punk style group has proven that they have what it takes to rise against the rest and drop a 12-song CD with more pumped up PSI rawness than a Super Soaker. If you can't handle the all-out fury, then you can cozy up with the acoustics on "Swing Life Away." McLlrath lays down aggressive, politically motivated ideas through a gravelly voice that has been compared to Davey Havok of AFI. Rise Against will rock dat der head of yours back and forth if you're willing to let it.
