Trying to stay fresh in the world of hip hop seems to be an evasive goal. While a lot of groups struggle to stay afloat after one release, it is rare to see them put out a quality second release. But on those rare occasions that a group can keep their style continually fresh, masterpieces are born. A Tribe Called Quest returns with The Love Movement, the group’s fifth album. Doing their thing since 1988, A Tribe Called Quest has continually innovated their style over the years and continued to put out hit albums.

The Love Movement is a mishmash of the different faces Tribe is known for. Catchy loops and Q-Tip's sheer genius at sampling and sequencing insures fans won't be disappointed with the release. The album is 15 tracks deep with 6 bonus "limited edition" cuts which are remixes of older Tribe material and the vinyl-only release of Q-Tip's solo venture under the name "The Lone Ranger." Cuts such as "Find A Way", "Busta's Lament" and "Hot 4 U" are sure to find their way into radio and club play while tracks like "Rock Rock Y'all" and "Like It Like That" are jeep-bumping material. Cameo appearances are made by Busta Rhymes, Redman, Noreaga, Punchline, Mos Def and Wordsworth. Tribe releases are always special because they constantly reinvent rhyme styles ("Start It Up" features some abstract styles) but always keep head-nodding beats at the forefront. Too bad it’s over now.
