We Reach: The Music of the Melvins

Editor's Review:

At first, the thought of a bunch of Melvins covers sounded like a really cool idea. After a while, though, the fact that the bands performing the covers weren’t going to do anything cool with them began to sink in. The selection of bands on this recording seems to span the gamut of metal. Oftentimes the songs run together, and before you know it, five tracks have elapsed. Granted, I am biased towards lighter music, but a greater variety in the types of bands selected would have been nice to hear. Not to say that there weren’t some very awesome parts, but the target audience is obviously quite metal.
