Africa Unite: The Singles Collection

It’s hard to believe that the world needs yet another collection of Bob Marley singles, yet they still manage to find the light of day. Not surprisingly, Africa Unite delivers what can easily be found on most any other “best of” Bob album. However, to the enjoyment of the listener, it also contains remixes by will.i.am and Ashley Beedle. Both remixes are a success in giving an upbeat facelift to classics like “Africa Unite” (will.i.am) and “Stand Up Jamrock” (Beedle) without removing them too far from their original, roots-y quality. While the casual Marley fan may want to avoid this purchase, the diehards out there will surely be stoked on will.i.am and Ashley Beedle’s renditions of great Marley titles.
