Aceyalone & RJD2

Magnificent City

Editor's Review:

Nothing makes me happier than when albums with acclaim actually meet or exceed their potential. But really though, could you go wrong with this collaboration? Aceyalone seamlessly flips styles over RJD2’s indiscriminate range of sounds, from the syrupy “Mooore” to the disco-themed “Fire,” and heavy guitar riffs of “Cornbread, Eddy and Me.” Both lyricist and producer are on the same page throughout the album, continually matching skill and creativity. No track sounds the same, keeping the listener aware and curious what the two are gonna come with next; a jazzy introspective song (“Here and Now”) or a funky fictitious tale (“Solomon Jones”). This is a cold one for real, so if you love hip-hop, support it.
