theSTART

Initiation

Editor's Review:

TheSTART think they are more punk than the bands you already listen to. And if you go by the bio written on their Web site, they’re probably right; they all screwed the major label bands they were involved with to join theSTART. But if you go by their music, you’ll probably find that they are the same amount of punk as the bands already in your collection. Their brand of manic, female-fronted punk isn’t new; think Brody Armstrong, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and No Doubt. Lead singer Aimee Echo’s voice often goes from sweet to shriek in one word — although an admirable talent, its overuse tends to gets annoying. The CD is a good one-time listen, but don’t expect to get attached.
