Big Star

In Space

Editor's Review:

In Space is not only the revival of Big Star after 30 years out of the studio, but it also fits brilliantly into the revival of the genre they left behind. It seems like countless rock dinosaurs are climbing out of the used rack tar pits and back onto the new release charts. In many cases, these bands would have been remembered more fondly had they remained in hibernation. I’m glad to say that Big Star isn’t one of those cases. The lyrics aren’t anything to jump up and down about, but a few tracks have a sweet cynicism about them that, along with catchy guitar, makes up for the rest. If you’re a Big Star fan, I think you’ll be into this album.
