Union of the Dead

Union of the Dead

Editor's Review:

Chico three piece punk rock 'n' rollers Union Of the Dead are finally set to drop their self-titled debut full-length album, 13 tracks of pure, unadulterated punk. UOD's sound harks back to the days of real punk rock - hard rhythms, crunchy, fast and oddly melodic guitar riffs, and high-end bass that's heard more than felt - yet is obviously influenced by the new school of the genre. The music's construction shows the trio's dedication to interesting songwriting, but never strays from the path that sets this group's tone. Not only does this group have brass musical balls, but this recording, captured in one weekend at Sacramento's Puss Cavern Studios, sounds great: Fred Telles' kick drum has an especially poignant punch; the tones of Gerardo Wackenhut's guitar and Cliff Greenwood's bass are well mixed to accent and play off each other; and the vocals - both Cliff's Elvis-meets-Danzig-meets-Johnny Thunders singing and the groups classic punk rock backing vocals - sound pro all the way. Pick this album up at local record stores, or at a live UOD show.
