Bad Religion

New Maps of Hell

Written By: David Boone

Editor's Review:

In their 27-year career, Bad Religion has recorded albums that have spanned the entire range from truly phenomenal (Against the Grain, Generator) to ridiculously terrible (1983’s bizarre prog-rock concept album Into the Unknown); most, however, have been mediocre at worst, and pretty darn good at best. New Maps of Hell fortunately is one of their better recent releases, close to par with 2002’s The Process of Belief. Their signature sound and literate lyrics are present in full force; melodic tracks like “New Dark Ages” and “Think Before You Die” get stuck in your brain almost instantly. This is one of those albums that has grown on me more and more with each successive listen — I’d definitely recommend it.
