I’ve never had the opportunity to experience the musical monstrosity that is South By Southwest. If SXSW Live 2007 is an accurate summary of what goes down every year in Austin, there’s no way in hell I’m wasting my money on a voluntary trip to Texas. Quite often throughout the 18 live cuts, I found myself bored and uninterested with the overabundance of emo rock bands, both foreign and domestic. Razorlight, Bowling for Soup and The Automatic hit some serious low points during the performances. Obviously, there were some kick-ass performances too, like the ones from Marc Broussard and Polyphonic Spree; but with all that music that went down at SXSW, you’d think that the highlights would be more exciting.
