Kurt Cobain: About a Son

Written By: Mike Kieran

Editor's Review:

This album is a compilation of Kurt Cobain’s influences and contemporaries. The music selections are eclectic, balanced between raw, aggressive, and slow, somber songs. Excerpts of Cobain interviews are included, but there are no Nirvana songs. My favorite part of the album is Cobain’s commentary on punk rock, followed by Bad Brains’ “Banned in D.C.” The next sound is the opening riff of “Up Around the Bend” by Creedence. Other notable artists on the album include David Bowie, Iggy Pop, the Butthole Surfers and Mudhoney. This album’s good selection of music and brief Cobain quotes seems to be a solid bet for diehard Nirvananites.
