Talib Kweli

Ear Drum

Written By: Lynsie Cameron

Editor's Review:

Being one of only a few of hip-hop’s genuine voices, Talib Kweli continues his message of good will, hope and faith on Ear Drum. With Kanye West and Norah Jones lending their voices on tracks, Kweli aimed high for Ear Drum after his past couple of album flops. There are a select few tracks that are worth raving about among the 20 tracks on the album, but they speak with loud words. “Say Something,” “More or Less” and “Hostile Gospel Pt.1” are spoken with a clear message of triumph through struggle. Without the strong words, the tracks would sound like they all blend together. Kweli is a talented poet who stays true to speaking on what he believes, and succeeds with this album in getting his words out.
