The Donnas Turn 21

Editor's Review:

The Donnas, the Bay Area's girlie punk rock darlings, have turned 21, and are brazenly announcing their passage in to the real world of adulthood with this collection of good old punk rock 'n' roll tunes geared towards the older, more mature punk rock grrrl. This is an album full of screaming guitar licks and driving rhythms, real fist-pumping rock music that, while is a more than just a tad predictable, is relentless in its youthful exuberance, despite the coming-of-age of the players. What we've got here is the Ramones meets Guns 'n' Roses - the whole thing wrapped in drag, of course - though it seems as though The Donnas are confused as to which direction to take: garage gutter punk or super polished studio wankery. It's fun and it doesn't suck, but The Donnas Turn 21 certainly isn't anything new. (This album was downloaded from eMusic.com)
