Chamillionaire

Ultimate Victory

Written By: Tyson Harris

Editor's Review:

After a Grammy, platinum record sales and a gargantuan hit single, Chamillionaire’s sophomore album has automatically been put to a high standard. However, instead of composing a tried-and-true record about cars, women and money, Cham wants the world to know that he’s socially conscious. With tracks like “The Morning News” and “The Evening News,” he awkwardly attempts to address issues like Bill O’Reilly and the Don Imus faux pas, but never brings his rants to a point. The beats on the album are clones of the past five years of mainstream rap, and most of his guests are talented, but not huge names. Not a great album, but at least we know that Chamillionaire’s heart is in the right place.

Also known as the Mixtape Messiah, Chamillionaire is just one example of how to make it in the record industry. Selling tapes out of his car, the Houston-based MC built a name for himself without the help of a record label. In 2005, he released his major label debut with Universal Motown.
