Everclear

Songs From an American Movie, Vol. 1: Learning How to Smile

Editor's Review:

What ever happened to Everclear? If I remember correctly, they were once a band. But now, all that remains is lead singer / guitarist Art Alexakis and a big budget to spend on hiring lots of guys with samplers and paying for full orchestras. I really do feel sorry for the other two members of Everclear. All they really do anymore is appear in videos and sing such meaningful lyrics as " Na-Na-Na." This album, aside from being pathetically egotistical, is just downright bad. Everclear comes across sounding overmatched and over-run by extraneous decoration. The real problem though, is just poor songwriting. Maybe next time Art will spend a little less time on the orchestras and drum loops, and concentrate on writing a decent song.
