the Explosion

Flash Flash Flash

Editor's Review:

Before seeing them on the bill for the AFI show later this month in Chico, I had never before heard of The Explosion. Being that they were coming with AFI, I have to admit that had expectations of some sort of neo-gothcore band like, well, AFI. But, I was pleasantly surprised when I listened to Flash, Flash, Flash. The Explosion are one of those new-school / old-school bands, much in the same ilk as, say, The Swingin Utters or One Man Army. Like those bands, they combine the best part of old-school, the straightforwardness and the sneering punkiness, and combine them with the better aspects of new-school, production quality and instrumental proficiency. Not the best album in the world, but certainly worth a listen.
