I loves me the zombie movies! Sadly, that makes it even more painful for me to write the following: Diary Of The Dead…sucks. Apart from two cool zombie kills, George Romero, the writer/director of such classics as Night Of The Living Dead and Dawn Of The Dead, really blew it on this one. Nearly all the characters are unlikable, making it hard to care if they get eaten alive or not. Worst of all is the protagonist, a film student documenting the emerging zombie crisis. He’s an annoying nad-bag through which Romero’s commentary on the amateur videographer/YouTube phenomenon is conveyed in too heavy-handed a fashion. Give your DVD player a rest and read The Walking Dead graphic novels instead.
