Cloverfield

Written By: Dustin Bennett

Editor's Review:

Not to be taken lightly, and certainly not sugarcoating a damn thing, Cloverfield is an exceptionally well-made film. An enormous monster is randomly attacking Manhattan, and the viewers don't know or see anything more than the characters do because the perspective of the entire film is through that of a camcorder being used by one of the characters the night of the attack. Tension, anxiety and goose bumps galore run rampant throughout the film, as director Matt Reeves plunges headfirst into the "what if" scenarios of an unforeseen monster-invasion, and what it would take to attempt getting thousands (if not millions) of people to safety. Unconventional in nearly every sense, Cloverfield is ground-breakingly brilliant.
