31knots

Climax/Anti-Climax

Editor's Review:

Recorded at Larry Crane's Jackpot! Studios in Portland Oregon, Climax Anti-Climax is full of churning guitar mayhem that brings to mind bands such as Unwound or Come. Several of the poppier songs sound like early R.E.M. rip-offs - minus the ingenuity and brilliance. Many of the vocals have the staccatoed pattern and pitch similar to the desperate and breathy style of Karate's Geoffrey Farina. 31 Knots isn't bad, but that doesn't mean it's all that great either - it's all up to how much ambient guitar one can take.
