Karate

Unsolved

Editor's Review:

This, the latest release from Boston indie stalwarts Karate, finds the group exploring the mellow, almost jazz influenced sounds of soft rock. This isn't jazzy in its song construction, but in the use of clean, clear guitar tones and accenting percussion that relies heavily on soft cymbal work. The bass lines walk, stroll and meander through the soundscapes that are everything from soft jazzy to soft rockin' that lacks the sappy mentality that traditionally goes along with anything unfortunately labeled "light rock." This is great music, well crafted, easy to listen to and easy to like.
