Talib Kweli
Reflection Eternal
Editor's Review:
Talib Kweli may very well be New York hip-hop's best kept secret. Sure,
he gained recognition with Mos Def on the Black Star record, but it was
Mos who blew up after that, while Talib concentrated on this, his first
mostly solo venture. Train of thought - featuring Kweli's partner Hi Tek,
a DJ and rapper whose cred is a strong as his talent - is greatly representative
of Kweli's smooth vocal style and laid back, passively powerful delivery.
Hi Tek, aside from contributing several tight raps, lays down the majority
of these sick beats, and sets a tone that Kweli accents with his positive
raps.
