At the Drive-In, Sunshine

Split 12" EP (Sunshine / At The Drive In)

Editor's Review:

Sunshine, a musical import of Danish decent, takes a big guitar riffing, heavy rhythm-based sound and washes it down in an '80s, almost Cure-esque synth- vibe, making this particular song, "Streamlined" (and its two accompanying remixes) like the bulk of their work: aggressive Euro-pop. The result is nothing short of attention grabbing. ATDI's "Extracurricular" - definitely the highlight of this split release - is a big, strapping and powerful number that charges hard out of the gate with a barrage of sonic, fast and heavy-handed guitar lines, and lets up only to let frontman Cedric Bixler belt out lyrics in his trademark wail. "Autorelocator" shows the synth- and beat-machine-loving side of ATDI, and though it isn't the aural onslaught that their other contribution is, it's worth checking for cred value alone.
