Rocket From the Crypt

Group Sounds

Editor's Review:

Group Sounds is a fast and furious, rhythmically-driven and blistering collection of rock 'n' roll tunes that is grittier and more honest-sounding then RFTC's previous three or four releases. Right out of the gate, with "Straight American Slave," RFTC makes it clear that this album is loud and straight-forward rock 'n' roll music, replete with driving rhythms, catchy hooks with plenty of rock moxie, and a horn section that adds a touch of class to this otherwise rough-and-tumble album. From there, the territory RFTC covers runs from harmonically augmented melodies and rhythm structures to slightly pop-friendly rock numbers with old school punk style vocal harmonizing. Groups Sounds is proof positive that RFTC can and does play up to their old reputation for rocking.
