Mountain Dew: Green Label Art vol. 1

Web Site Review

Editor's Review:

In an effort to make more money off repackaging a pre-existing product, Mountain Dew has unveiled its first series of limited edition 16oz aluminum bottles, sheathed in custom graphics from some exceptional contemporary artists. It’s a shame that there’s only Mountain Dew inside, because the bottles do kick ass. Ranging from Peat Wollaeger’s traditional stencil “Billy Hilly,” to tattoo expert Troy Denning’s “Concrete Dragon,” to graffiti specialists Haze’s and Dez’s “MD Superstar” and “Do the Dew,” the six different labels do offer quite a lot of artistic diversity. Fiends of collectables should keep their eyes peeled for more cylindrical artistry; Volume 2 in the series should be released come fall. Designs and behind the scene video can be viewed at the promotion's Web site, www.greenlabelart.com.
